Quadruple Points Race for Life Weekend

You get quadruple points for a good cause all in one weekend. On June 9th and 10th, there will be two Race for Life events within 90 minutes of each other. Riverview BMX and Charlotte BMX are both hosting Double Points RFL's on this weekend and you can be a part of both of them.

Since its inception in 1949, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® has been committed to finding cures for all blood-related cancers. The Race for Life is an opportunity for tracks and riders to raise money towards this worthy cause while also earning double districts points.

Florida Cup races brought in 30+ Strider racers

If you were surprised at the sudden emergence of the smallest and cutest class in BMX, you shouldn't be. Strider tracks are popping up at BMX tracks all around the country. Striders were racing at the Pro Cycling Challenge road race in Colorado last year, they are at every USA BMX National this year and we saw them at all of our Florida Cup races.

Florida's Best Take on the World

It's that time of year again when the best riders in the world travel to a far off location to determine who will become World Champion! More than a dozen riders from the state of Florida traveled across the pond to Birmingham, England to represent their respective countries as well as their own personal ambitions.

With determination, tenacity and little luck some of our riders came home with the hardware that proves they are World Class athletes.

CycleCraft Photo Finish at the Florida Cup

The Factory CycleCraft team were taking no prisoners at the SSA Florida Cup final at Tampa BMX on May 19th, 2012. The day was hot but the racing was even hotter. 130+ motos of hungry BMXers gathered with only one intention - to win. With everything on the line not a single rider was holding back.

The main event was a duel between Profile Racing's Tyler Faoro and CycleCraft's Cj Mcguire. Cj surprised everyone when he blasted out of the gate and lead the entire race all the way to the final stretch. It was there that Tyler tried to make his move. The two soared towards the finish and crossed at the exact same moment. Even a photo review could not determine who won. According to the rules they went to the judges scores which gave the race to Cj Mcguire. In addition to his race day win he also took 2nd Place overall in the series.

Introducing the Factory Prana Race Team

A new team has set its sights on both the SSA Florida Cup Season and the USA BMX National scene. Factory Prana is based out of Okeeheelee BMX in West Palm Beach. The team is managed by Bryan Green and Adam Haas with a score of fantastic sponsors including J&R Bicycles, Strathmore Bagels, TCBY, Brass Ring Pub, Fara Bender Pediatric Dentistry, My Neighborhood Phamacy, Healthy Smile Dental Group, Domestic Printing and the Bog Dogs Race Report.

First, apologies for missing the last few race reports, the team reporter took a vacation to the islands to complete some stealth training before the Florida Cup championship. Here are a few highlights from the April and May qualifiers:

Factory CycleCraft signs Michelle Huey

CycleCraft BMX has signed rising star Michelle Huey. This 15 year old from Cape Coral, Florida has already been an SSA Florida State Champion, an NBL National Champion, a runway model and even the 2012 Miss T.E.E.N Florida.

Michelle possesses the kind of work ethic and powerful riding skills that separates pretenders from contenders. In addition, she does volunteer work and is a straight A student at her high school. Michelle has already succeeded in so many different areas of her life so it comes as no surprise that she has earned a spot on one of the most prestigious factory teams in the country.

2012 SSA Florida Cup Championships (Part 2 of 2)

Following a blazing hot day of action at Tampa BMX came a flood of celebrations and after parties. Some people stayed up all night. Apparently nobody can party like a BMXer. The next day hundreds of riders and parents converged on the Florida State Fairgrounds for the SSA Florida Cup Awards Ceremony.

If you have never been to one of these awards ceremonies you are missing half the fun of BMX. There is nothing like walking onto the stage after your name has been announced and hearing the cheers of your friends, family and teammates as well as fans that you didn't know you had. You are lined up with your class and receive one of a thousand enormous shiny trophies that line the background. It can be a glorious moment.

2012 SSA Florida Cup Championships (Part 1 of 2)

The riders and a fully packed audience waded through 130+ motos in 93 degree heat at the 2012 SSA Championships at Tampa BMX. Unpredictability might have been the key component for the excitement in this final race for the Florida Cup overall titles. On this day points battles were contested with honor. Some riders folded under the weight of expectation while many rose to the occasion and delivered their best performance ever! It was an epic show to watch.

Dixieland taken over by Agents of Kaos!

They might sound like a squad of mercenaries from a Marvel Comics movie but in reality Kaos BMX Florida is actually of group of up and coming riders from the good ole Sunshine State. Born at the 2012 Oldsmar Gator Nationals, the Florida wing of the Kaos brand is relatively new to the sport but that makes them even more dangerous. No one told these hucksters that they couldn't win so that's all they know how to do.

Their most recent trip to the Dixieland Nationals put the fear of Kaos in the crowd. Not only did the green and black show up in droves, they also won the day!

Factory CycleCraft takes Georgia by Storm

Factory CycleCraft team members converged on Cobb County BMX in Powder Springs, Georgia for the 2012 Dixieland Nationals. While 209 motos of racers were ready for the action, no one consulted the oncoming weather.

The second day of racing was cancelled due to heavy rains but one day was all that CycleCraft needed to get some fantastic results.

Redline/M-1 Clinic at the Championships

Florida is known for having some of the best racers in the United States and this weekend is their chance to prove it. Riders from all over the state will be battling for the coveted FL. # 1 plate in their respected age groups and proficiencies. Redline/ M1 will be starting off the weekend with a skills clinic to help the riders with every aspect of the track and give them the best opportunity to bring home a top 10 number plate.

If you have never attended a Redline/Monster clinic please prepare to come to work because the instructors will not just watch you ride around the track, they will be teaching.

The 8 Championship Races to Watch

As everyone in Florida knows the SSA puts on a Great Championship show. You can expect well over 600 riders, more than 100 motos and certainly the best talent that the sunshine state has to offer. The pros put on the biggest spectacle but there are many amateurs who also catch our eyes and command our hearts.

While some classes have dominant riders, there a quite a few that are up for grabs. Here we will highlight some match-ups that will fill the stands with adrenaline, getting parents and riders to their feet. Here we celebrate the uncalculated odds that align the sweat of training with nerves of steel to create the dramatic realities of victory and defeat.

Amanda Geving takes 4th in Papendal

The early motos in Papendal were breathtaking as even the best of riders were stretching their limbs trying to dial in the huge Dutch track. Our Florida riders all got off to a good start but it was MCS Racing's Amanda Geving who lead the way.

Geving took 3rd, 3rd and 2nd in the first three runs and easily made her way to the Semis. It was there that she used smooth riding on the last straight to slip into the final position to qualify for the main event. Geving fought off tough competition in the main to pull herself into 4th place. Her consistency has become phenomenal earning her the respect of fans and fellow riders.

StriderMania at Sarasota BMX

At the recent Florida Cup Qualifiers at Sarasota BMX there was a huge turn out for what continues to be a rising trend in the sport - Strider racing. These 5year old and under classes brought in 32 participants. Enthusiastic parents and a growing audience of onlookers found themselves cheering harder than ever for some of the most entertaining races of the weekend. The little kids certainly didn't mind all the attention.

Cj Mcguire puts CycleCraft on the Podium

The CC Factory team was back in action at the 2012 Sarasota Florida Cup Qualifiers. Newly signed pro Cj Mcguire came prepared to impress. He handled every part of the track as if he had been racing it all year. Cj established a position in the front of the pack and when it came to the big show he did not disappoint.

Clinic & Racing this weekend at Charlotte

It's the final weekend before the Tampa SSA Championships and Charlotte BMX is ready to prepare you for the big day. AA Pro Dennison Smith is giving a skills clinic on Saturday from 3-6pm for only $20. Dennison and his assistants will teach gates, jumping, manualing, rhythm and work on your track speed.

On Sunday it's racing time. Charlotte BMX returns to its normal hours with practice at 2pm and racing at 4pm. There will be a Strider race as well. Then its time to for the real entertainment as the Moms climb on the bikes for our free Mothers Day race.

Intensity Personified at the Sarasota Qualifiers

They say that a Master Poker player can win a game with any hand. The same is true with great BMXers. A brilliant rider can win on any day, on any track and with any given set of circumstances. That is what we saw at the Sarasota SSA Qualifiers.

Within 90+ motos of racing there were several riders who faced adversity and came back fighting. The weekend included feats of brilliance, terrible crashes, close finishes and a rescue helicopter!
